HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - FREIGHT FORWARDING

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Head of BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - FREIGHT FORWARDING is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and commercial growth of the company’s Global freight business. This role ensures the development and execution of competitive, customer-focused freight solutions that align with the company’s logistics strategy and revenue objectives.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  1. Strategic Leadership
  • Define and implement the long-term vision and strategy for  freight services.
  • Monitor global and regional trade trends to position the business competitively.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives and sustainable shipping practices.

 

  1. Commercial & Business Development
  • Develop and manage commercial strategies to grow ocean freight volumes and revenue.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, carriers, and partners.
  • Lead tenders, pricing strategies, and key account negotiations with carriers and BCOs.

 

  1. Operations Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end performance of freight operations, including FCL, LCL, and consolidation services.
  • Optimize route planning, space allocation, and carrier selection to ensure cost-effectiveness and service reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, shipping regulations, and customs procedures.

 

  1. Carrier and Vendor Management
  • Manage strategic alliances and contracts with shipping lines,  NVOCCs, airlines.
  • Negotiate rates, service terms, and allocation agreements to maximize margins and capacity.

 

  1. People & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing freight team.
  • Set clear KPIs and monitor team performance to achieve operational and financial targets.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and customer excellence.

 

  1. Financial Responsibility
  • Manage the P&L for ocean freight business units.
  • Analyze cost structures, improve profitability, and control operational budgets.
  1. Direct report to CEO and report work to the Board of Directors. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in international freight forwarding with deep knowledge of ocean freight..
  • University graduation major Foreign Trade, Logistics, Economic, related field.
  • Specialized skill and experience for Forwarding, Logistics experience, supply chain.Proven leadership in managing large teams and strategic carrier relationships.
  • Strong understanding of global trade lanes, incentives, freight rates, and customs compliance.
  • Excellent command of English (Oral and of written skill).
  • Excellent business development and sales skills.
